IT was originally built by the Normans to protect Gower from marauding invaders.

Nine centuries later however Oystermouth Castle continues to draw visitors their in droves, with more than 25,000 arriving over the summer season.

Tourism chiefs say the figure is a sign of the castle’s on-going success while local traders welcome the annual influx of tourists into Mumbles the castle brings.
