Breakers mansion in running for national prize – Boston.com

NEWPORT, R.I.—The group that runs The Breakers mansion in Newport is urging Rhode Islanders to vote online as the historic property competes for the $25,000 top prize in a national competition.

High property taxes force owner of historic Ocean City mansion to knock it down | NJ.com

OCEAN CITY — A landmark mansion in Ocean City has been knocked down.

Its owner says he had to do it because taxes were so high and he could not find a buyer for the 1924 DuBois estate.

Donald DuBois told The Press of Atlantic City he tried to sell the mansion for the past three years but could not find a taker. DuBois also said he couldn’t go on paying nearly $16,000 a year in property taxes plus inheritance taxes.
