The new venue of one of the region’s biggest motor shows has been given the official seal of approval – by the man who will decide which cars are the stars of this year’s event at Castle Howard, near Malton, on Father’s Day (June 19).

Geoff Hill, who was involved with motor engineering most of his working life, has judged the entries for The Yorkshire Post Motor Show and Classic Car Rally for the past five years.

The future of Hay Castle in Powys has been secured following a £4.46m lottery grant.

The medieval castle ruins and its Grade I listed mansion in Hay-on-Wye will be restored and the ancient gate reopened.

When the project is complete, it will be the first time the castle has opened to the public in its 800-year history.

Thousands of music fans are heading to Devon for one of the biggest festivals of the year.

Ghost hunters at a 12th-century English castle snapped a photo of a milky white image of a woman in a dress and, a year later, it’s scaring up a lot of interest in British tabloids.
